FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Will childcare be provided? Each group decides what they want to do for childcare. Often, in young families, groups will decide to split the cost of a babysitter in their homes. Sometimes there are women’s groups during the day at church where daycare is provided. Check with your group leader to see what options there are!

How many people are in each group? Usually between 10-20 people. Although very small groups are intimate and comforting, we find that larger groups tend to make people feel more comfortable and where they may be likely to find at least one or two people that they really hit it off with. Generally we hope to have at least 10 people show up every group night.

How often do groups meet? What does the night look like? Groups meet once a week for as long as their curriculum goes. This fall for instance, we are doing an 8 week church-wide campaign. There is a party at the start and usually one at the end, which would add about 2 weeks onto either end. Each group looks different, but generally there is a short time of fellowship and possibly eating some snacks. After a little while of catching up the groups will dive into the material of that night. The books, during the church wide campaigns, will be echoed by sermons and typically the months of groups will be a time saturated in interesting material. You can expect a group to run for about an hour and a half to two hours each week. The time of the group depends on your availability and what day/time you wish to invest in! :)

What is the purpose of being in a group? We believe we can’t live this life alone. That having true, loyal friends provides us with the encouragement and strength we need to fight every day to be our best selves for this world. We believe God put people on this earth for each other and that we all need each other to learn how to be more like Jesus. We believe in “mourning with those who mourn” and “rejoicing with those who rejoice,” like the Bible says. Here at Centennial Road, we embrace each other’s journeys and seek to walk alongside each other in all of the joys and pains of this life. Being in groups is our main way to do all of these things. Finding smaller groups, out of the larger whole, is a way we can invest in people individually and begin building bridges of trust with one another in less overwhelming contexts where we are more likely to be ourselves and share with those around us.

Where do the groups meet? Typically we meet in each other’s homes. A more comfortable and laid back environment. However, plenty of groups meet at the church depending on the leader’s convenience and the comfort of the group. It’s your preference what group you join. Make sure to check out the locations and times of each group before you decide on a particular one to join!
